10/18/11

Thank you to all that came to the GRMPA meeting last night.  We are beginning a lot of new and exciting changes and we do need all of your help!  Please check the new GRMPA website:

http://www.grmpa.org/home

There is a lot of information there now and we are planning on adding more as we go!

On the first day of school you will need!!!

1.         Pencil

2.         2” notebook (no bigger or it will not fit in the folder slots)

3.         1 or 2 folders with holes that will fit into your binder

4.         Blank notebook paper

5.         Blank manuscript paper (music paper – can be bought at Montclair music or any music store.  You can also go online and print out several pages [about 20] if that is easier)

6.         The exercise packet given to you on move up day. (if you did not get it you must contact Mr. Lagos to get one before the first day of school – klagos@glenridge.org)

Having this equipment will be a graded assignment.  This class will be very difficult if you are not prepared everyday for each class period.  You will not need your instrument on the first day of class.

If you have any Dinkles, lyres, flip folders or any other music equipment that you are no longer going to need or no longer want, please donate them to the school!  We can always use extra stuff.  Please remember however, I have heard from many people that they wish they had continued to play their instrument at least for fun many, MANY times.  I will gladly take any equipment but make sure you will not want to use it in the future!

Attention all 7th - 12th Grade Concert Band Members

By Monday, September 12th, I have asked all students to have their binders and equipment for class ready.  All students should have a binder less than 2", severral pencils, manuscript paper, and blank notebook paper.  We do take a lot of notes in class and these items will be necessary.  Also, students will need the proper accesories for their instruments.
Brass - Valve oil, slide grease and a small spray bottles for trombones
Woodwinds - extra reeds and cork grease
Percussion - The stick bag information is posted at my homepage

If you look to your left, this is where I will put relevant files.  It will include a weekly schedule updated, well, weekly, a lesson schedule and a schedule of groups for those lessons, and a ton of other information that will keep you informed about what is going on in the classroom.

The web site and email are the two biggest ways that I deal with communication throughout the year.  Thanks for your time and feel free to ask any questions that you may have.  I am looking forward to a great year.  Thanks!
