Course Description

First grade students are beginning to read.  They are able to decipher titles of books.  They know where to locate their favorite authors and to recognize the work of varying illustrators.

As the school year progresses, the first grade student’s reading capabilities expand and library now becomes a place to explore their interests to a greater extent.  Besides reinforcing all the knowledge they acquired in Kindergarten they are now widening their horizons and discovering more of what a library can offer them.

As always, the first grade student is encouraged to express her/his love of books and reading using numerous exciting activities.  Now they are able to build upon their prior knowledge of the library and to broaden their technical capabilities.
