The GRHS Book Club is open to all faculty members and students in grades
9 – 12.
How many books does the club read each year?
The club reads and discusses 4 book selections over the course of the school
year. This is broken down into the following 2-month cycles:
Selection 1: October & November
Selection 3 February & March
Selection 2: December & January
Selection 4: April & May
How often does the Book Club meet?
The Book Club usually meets once a month.
There are generally two meetings related to each book selection:
A mid-way meeting to discuss
the unfolding plot, impressions of characters, setting, etc. and the anticipated
conclusion
A final meeting to discuss the book’s conclusion,
thoughts related to the selection as a whole, and to vote on the next selection
How does the Book Club we decide what they will
read?
The group is generally given a choice of 3 books with a similar theme (i.e.
coming of age, travel, etc.) or in the same genre (i.e., historical fiction,
sci-fi, adventure, etc.)
These choices are researched and chosen based on input from club members
and reviews provided by professional sources (i.e. book reviews, other
book clubs, etc)
Suggestions from Book Club members are welcomed and taken into consideration
How long do members have to read each book?
Usually, members have about 2 months to read each book selection
The length and complexity of the book are taken into account as are vacation
breaks and other events on the school calendar
What should you do if you want to participate?

the next Book Club meeting

Club selections or you may choose to participate in certain cycles and
