Save
and Back up
During each working session on the computer, periodically save work to the computer's hard drive (C:\\).
At the end of each working session, be sure to also save your work to your own personal file storage device (a floppy diskette or a memory stick). This will require you to use the SAVE AS function. If you are unsure how to do this, ask your instructor for assistance.
Before leaving class, check to verify that the latest version of your file has been saved to both the computer's hard drive and your personal file storage device. Carefully following these procedures will save your files in two different places and ensures that your work will not be lost due to unforeseen technical difficulties.
If you plan to continue working at home, be sure you save your file in a compatible format. In WORD, you can change the SAVE AS TYPE to RICH TEXT FORMAT (it will appear with a .rtf extension instead of .doc) so that it can be opened and edited by any word processing program.
Anytime your diskette or memory stick is found left behind, points will be deducted from your responsibilities grade. You will also lose points if you are not prepared with either a floppy diskette or memory stick on which to save your work when necessary.
Lost data will not be an acceptable excuse for late assignments.
