You will be expected to have between 20 and 40 note cards by the end of the note taking process.  Your goal is to have at least one note card with details to support each point on your outline (i.e. IIA, IIB, IIC, etc.) with possibly the exception of your introduction and your conclusion.   Each note card should contain several supporting ideas related to the same main idea.  All notes must be paraphrased, summarized or direct quotes from your sources.  

Each note card should include:

• a main idea
• supporting details
• the source(s) used, including page numbers for books
• your initials
• the Roman Numeral and letter (i.e. I B, IV A) which identifies how these notes correspond to your outline
