    Outline Self-Checklist
 

1.    Is there a 4-line header on top of your outline including your name, teacher, course, and date?

2.    Is there a running header on the top right corner of each page that includes your last name and the proper page number?

3.    Does a brief title and your full thesis statement appear at the top of your outline just below your 4-line header?    

4.    Is the outline typed in the required Times New Roman 12 point font and double-spaced?

5.    Are sub-topics numbered with Roman Numerals (I, II, III, IV, V, etc.)?

6.    Are there at least 2 (A, B) and no more than 4 (A-D) supporting ideas listed below each sub-topic and identified by letters?

7.    If supporting ideas are further broken down, have numbers (1,2,3, 4) been used and are there at least 2 further sub-sections?

8.    Are sub-topics listed on your outline in an order that is somehow flows in a logical way?

9.    Does your introduction include your thesis and indicate what will be included as background info or to grab attention?

10.  Does your conclusion refer back to your thesis, sum up the evidence and show you will draw references?

11.  Have you used ALL topic statements or ALL full sentences and avoided using a mixture of both in your outline?

12.  Does your outline have parallel structure with each section using verbs OR nouns, singular OR plural, but not both?
