This course focuses on the process of preparing a research paper with particular attention paid to supporting your thesis and structuring your writing.  You will be expected to:

• choose a topic of personal interest and develop a thesis related to that topic
• use all available resources to thoroughly research your topic and support your thesis
• prepare an outline of the information that you plan to include in your paper and take relevant notes
• summarize and paraphrase information using your own words
• find and properly document at least 1 relevant quote that you will include in your paper
• locate  and cite at least 3 different sources in your paper (including at least 1 print source and 1 computer source)
• appropriately credit sources from which you draw facts and ideas using parenthetical references
• draft and revise a 3 – 5 page paper plus a Works Cited page according to MLA style guidelines
