The Glen Ridge Historical Society is proud of its many achievements since its founding in 1977, all of which were made possible through membership support:
We were instrumental in the establishment of the Historic District of Glen Ridge, which is entered on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places.
We maintain a Museum Room located in the Congregational Church. It is open by appointment: call Sally Meyer at 748-4034. Among our collections Is our "House File," which records information about every house in Glen Ridge.
We preserve the heritage of Glen Ridge through the publication and production of variety of historical materials. Our award winning video tape celebrates the 1895-1995 Centennial with an intriguing look at both the past and present.
The league of Historical Societies also honored our centennial Book. This collection of rare photographs and personal stories provides an educational and entertaining view of our first 100 years.
Two Walking Tour Audio Tapes leisurely guide you through beautiful Historic Districts with house descriptions and neighborhood information. Our popular "Scenes of Glen Ridge" poster decorates many stylish local homes. All items are available for sale at Historic Society meetings and at the Public Library.
We donate books and funds to the Glen Ridge Public Library to enhance their house preservation and restoration collections.
We present an annual preservation Award for exterior renovation and preservation work that maintain the integrity of a house in Glen Ridge.
