Glen Ridge Individuals
For A Skate Park Today

OUR DREAM of a place in Glen Ridge, NJ where kids go to practice their skateboarding and inline skating skills without the dangers of street traffic, meet with other kids with similar interests and have the support of their community.

"Where can our kids go to
Skateboard Safely?"

GRINDFAST started in the spring of 2000, when a group of concerned parents asked the town council, "Where can our kids go to skateboard?" We are a group that is growing in size and commitment every day.

Our members come from every corner of town and represent all age and skill levels. Following a summer spent doing research, we approached the town council with the idea of building a skate park for this purpose.

On November 14, 2000 the town council of Glen Ridge voted unaminously to provide the town's skaters and boarders with a place to build their park in the town maintenance yard south of Carteret Park.

THE PLAN is to begin construction of an initial phase of the park in Spring of 2001 and have a few ramps ready to skate by June. New pieces of equipment will be added through the summer. Our mission is to provide a wide range of safe ramps for kids of all ages and abilities. Participants will pay a small fee per use or have the option of joining for the season. All money received will go into maintaining, supervising and improving the park.

We are especially interested from hearing from any community based companies and individuals interested in donating money, time, materials [wood studs, plywood, Masonite, nails, screws, assorted power tools, tool shed] or services such as carpentry, landscaping, fencing, and signage.

If you would like to become involved in GRINDFAST, to get email updates on our meetings and progress, to make a tax deductible donation, or to get involved with the actual construction, please email Julia Gorton. [gortonkirk@excite.com] or call 748-6997. Don't forget to let us know if you are an inline skater or a skate boarder.
