Re: Asbestos
Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) - Management Plan Available and Response
Act Scheduling and Update at Glen Ridge
The Management Plan submitted to the Governor in October 1998 was approved on July 5, 1989. A copy of the Management Plan is available for public view in the Business Office at 12 High Street as well as in the Principal's office at each school. The Management Plan stipulates certain response actions regarding asbestos containing building materials (ACBM) found within the school. Every six months, all friable or potentially friable ACBMs are inspected for possible deterioration.
If any deterioration is found, the area will be repaired by trained personnel and cleaned using proper techniques. No materials have been scheduled for removal since the last inspection. A three-year re-inspection was completed in January 2005 and the next one will take place in January 2008.
Specific details about asbestos removal activities will be announced thirty days prior to the start of the project. If there are any fiber release episodes, notice will be given as soon as possible following the incident.
