Voting is the most basic and fundamental right of a democratic society.   Since only adults vote, our students may think of elections as irrelevant or annoying.  But elections at all levels powerfully affect their lives.  School boards, mayors, city councils, governors, state legislators, and national officials all make decisions that impact daily realities and opportunities for kids and their families.

So let’s explore CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS for this election year.  We will review books and activities to use with students from grade K to grade 5.  You will leave with a list of books, DVDs, Election Activities for Math, Language Arts, Technology, Art, Research Skills plus Elections on the Web.

So run up the flag, blow up some balloons, put a Sousa march in the CD player, sing “Happy Days are Here Again,” and join us for a fun-filled, data-filled hour
