Glen Ridge Elementary School

At the primary level in Glen Ridge, our philosophy for literacy development is that children develop at their own pace.  The following reading lists were designed to support various levels of reading.

Encouraging reading can develop the literacy process.  Students should be reading at a comfortable level and being read to at a level(s) above.  Please peruse our suggested summer reading list to locate books at your child’s reading development level.

Do not forget to visit the local library and consult with the librarian in the children’s section.  For added information, click on the link from American Library Association For Children (A division of the American Library Association) for Caldecott Medal winners and honorees. The Caldecott Medal is awarded to the illustrator of the year’s most distinguished children’s picture book.
