Glen Ridge BOE To Receive Grant for Construction Project

$2,782,102 Construction Grant

On September 25, 2001, the voters in Glen Ridge ratified a Bond Referendum for an addition to Glen Ridge High School and for repairs to Forest and Linden Avenue Schools. The referendum calls for $11,925,000 in total construction and repairs. The $2.8 million grant from the State will lower the cost to taxpayers to less than $10 million.

Glen Ridge Borough and Glen Ridge Board of Education Secure Two Grants

$300,000 for Early Childhood Education and Technology and  $93,000 to Assist with Building the New Gym

Through the hard work of Mayor Steve Plate and former Board of Education member, John Lacey, the Borough and Board have been able to secure two grants to assist our school district. The first grant, the third of its kind, was for $300,000, which will be used to offset district costs in the areas of Early Childhood Education and Technology. This grant assists us in maintaining our early education program as well as keeping us on the cutting edge for educational technology. We also received a $93,000 grant to assist with the construction of the new gym. Thanks to Mayor Plate and former BOE member Lacey for all their hard work and persistence.

Mayor’s Gala & Glen Ridge Athletic Association (GRAA)

Ridgewood Avenue School Gym Project

Last winter, the Mayor’s Gala raised $30,000 for Phase I repairs to the Gary Cuozzo Gym at Ridgewood Avenue School. The project involved taking down the condemned running track that lined the perimeter of the gym above the gym floor surface. This past summer and fall, Castle Construction, a local Glen Ridge company, assisted by R. Gerne Landscapers of Montclair, took down the track and installed six basketball backboards and hoops. Phase II involves removal of the current plastic playing surface and replacing it with either a synthetic surface or a hard wood floor. Neither of the projects could have been done without the support of the Mayor and Borough Council and, most importantly, the patrons of the Mayor’s Gala. Thank you for your support!

This year’s Mayor’s Gala will be held on February 2nd at 7:30 pm at the Glen Ridge Women’s Club. For more information, please call the Glen Ridge Borough Hall at 973-748-8400, Ext. 220.
