It may not look like much is happening, but
inside the academic wing and gymnasium there is a lot going on. ·
Academic Wing - The masons have to complete
the connections between the existing building and the new wing; but that
has not stopped the work in the classroom wing. Office areas have been
sheet-rocked, three of the four science classrooms have been installed,
ceiling grids are complete, the elevator is almost operable, and cabinetry
is 80% complete. In the next month the masonry will be 100%, windows will
be 100%, and flooring will start to be installed. ·
Gymnasium – This space is almost complete
except for the gym floor, bathroom fixtures, lockers in the changing rooms,
flooring in halls and some additional finishes. The following has been
completed: bathrooms and changing rooms have been tiled, backboards, scoreboard
and court divider have been installed. Drop ceilings, lighting and trophy
cases in our new athletic hall of fame have been installed. The entire process has been very exciting. Please
look for an early fall date for a grand opening dedication. Construction Grant Money The Glen Ridge Public Schools has already
received in excess of $2.1 million of the approximately $2.7 million
dollars in grant money for the construction projects at the $300,000 for Early Childhood
Education and Technology and $93,000
to Assist with Building the New Gym Through the hard work of
Mayor Steve Plate and former Board of Education member John Lacey, the
Borough and Board have been able to secure two grants to assist our school
district. The first grant, the third of its kind, was for $300,000, which
will be used to offset district costs in the areas of Early Childhood
Education and Technology. This grant assists us in maintaining our early
education program as well as keeping us on the cutting edge for educational
technology. We also received a $93,000 grant to assist with the
construction of the new gym. Thanks to Mayor Plate and former BOE member
Lacey for all their hard work and persistence. Hard Work From
