Message from the Superintendent:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Glen Ridge community for their support in approving the 2007-2008 school budget. 

 

Emergency Closing “Give Back” Days Schedule

 

Schools will be closed on Friday, May 25th for an extended Memorial Day weekend.

 

8th Grade Promotion - June 15th at 7 pm

2nd Grade Promotion (Forest Avenue School) - June 18th at 1 pm

2nd Grade Promotion (Linden Avenue School) - June 19th at  1 pm

6th Grade Promotion - June 19th at 7 pm

The last day of school has been moved to June 20th (Move-Up Day)

Glen Ridge High School Graduation - June 22nd at 7 pm

 

Glen Ridge High School Exam Schedule (Grades 7 – 12):

·          June 13 – Day 1 – Periods 1 & 2

·          June 14 – Day 2 – Periods 3 & 4

·          June 15 – Day 3 – Periods 5 & 6

·          June 18 – Day 4 – Periods 7 & 8

·          June 19 – Exam Give Back Day

BUSINESS

The Board approved the following business items:

·                     Schedule for the requisition of taxes with the Borough of Glen Ridge

·                     Student activity fee in the amount of $200 for the 2007-2008 school year

·                     Tuition rates for the 2007-2008 school year

·                     Membership in the Garden State Coalition of Schools

·                     Substitute rates of pay for the 2007-2008 school year

·         Fiscal Year 2007 Grant Acceptance Certification (GAC) - IDEIA Consolidated

·         A contract with Classic Sport Floors to repair and refinish the high school gymnasium floor

·         School district’s maximum travel expenditure for the 2007-2008 school year

·         Long term care group insurance policy from Med-American Insurance Company for voluntary participation of all eligible school district employees

 

PERSONNEL

The Board of Education approved:

·                     Re-appointments of the following staff for the 2007-2008 school year:

v       Tenured and non-tenured administrators

v       Tenured and non-tenured certificated staff

v       Secretarial staff

v       Custodians, maintenance staff and bus drivers

v       Aides

v       Confidential staff

v       Summer duty assignments

v       Childcare staff

v       Substitute calling service

·                     Appointment of Eric Dimeck as a Social Studies teacher at Glen Ridge High School for the 2007-2008 school year

·         Leave of absence to Jamie Fitzgerald, Kindergarten teacher at Linden Avenue School, for the 2007-2008 school year

·         Vincent Timpanaro to provide summer district printing services

·         Addition to the substitute list for the remainder of the 2006-2007 school year

 

 

ADMINISTRATION:

The Board of Education approved the following for the 2007-2008 school year:

·                       Board of Education meeting dates for the 2007-2008 school year

·                       The Glen Ridge Paper and the Star Ledger as the official newspapers

·                       PNC Bank, Wachovia Bank, New Jersey Cash Management Fund (MBIA) and Bank of America as depositories of school funds and authorized the Board Secretary to invest idle funds of the BOE

·                       Re-adopted bylaws, policies and regulations for the 2007-2008 school year

·                       Authorized petty cash responsibilities to various principals, directors and area administrators

·                       Uniform Memorandum of Agreement between the Glen Ridge Police Department and the Board of Education

·         Re-appointed John Calavano as Treasurer of School Moneys

·         Mountainside Family Practice as school and team physicians

·         Nisivoccia & Company as Auditor

·         Anthony Sciarrillo, Esq. of Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper as Board Attorney

·         Design Resource Group as Architect

·         John DuBuque as Program Manager for AHERA, THP Officer and Chemical Hygiene Officer

·         Barbara Gemza as Affirmative Action Officer, Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator and 504 Coordinator

·         Peter Caprio as Custodian of Records and IPMC Coordinator

·         Insurance brokers of record: Ginspec Consulting for medical, dental, vision and prescription and W.H. Roddy Inc. for property, casualty and other organizational insurance

 

CURRICULUM:

The Board of Education approved the following for the 2007-2008 school year:

·                     Pre-K to Grade 12 curriculum & textbooks

·                     Tuition students

·                     Children of non-resident employees attending Glen Ridge Schools

·                     Membership in the NJSIAA

·                     Membership in the Colonial Hills Conference

 

DONATIONS

The Board of Education accepted, with thanks, the following generous donations from the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation:

·                     Classroom Assessment Practices and Strategies (CAPS) teacher training program for grades Pre-K to 6 in the amount of $22,250

·                     Music in Education MIE-3 System for the Glen Ridge High School music program in the amount of $26,662.55

·                     Spring 2007 Innovation Grants totaling $5,783.01 as follows:
