Message from the Superintendent: As we start the new year, I look forward to working with the
community and the Glen Ridge faculty and staff on the following: ·
Completing the detailed drawings and bid documents for the
construction and repairs to the High School, Forest and Linden Avenue
Schools. ·
Present a budget to the public that maintains and enhances our
educational programs. ·
Complete contract negotiations with the Glen Ridge Educational
Association. Congratulations to Adrienne Thomas and Randie Blauth for 25 years of
service to the Glen Ridge Public Schools! SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
HIGHLIGHTS: Building Project·
Local Historic Preservation Committee (HPC) – The Board received
approval from the local HPC. We must now submit for state approval. ·
Planning Board – The Board is working with the Borough Planning Board
on the site construction plans. Submission for final “approval” is scheduled
for February. ·
Construction Schedule – We are on schedule to go out to bid in late
spring/early summer and start construction during the summer of 2002. Administration·
The Board was informed that the District was re-accredited by the New
Jersey Department of Education based on a site visit from the County
Superintendent of Schools and the Business Administrator and a review of
district documents. Curriculum·
The Board approved a teacher from each school to attend the
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Conference
being held in San Antonio, Texas from March 9-11. This conference is paid for
through the IASA Grant. ·
The Board approved the district’s English as Second Language (ESL)

Authorize the Essex County Educational Services Commission to
coordinate and administer all applications for pupil transportation for the
2002/2003 school year. ·

Granted maternity leave to Kimberly Burk, Mathematics Teacher/ High
School. ·
Granted maternity leave to Erin Clark, Science Teacher/High School. ·
Appointed Steve Reitberger as Assistant Baseball Coach. ·
Appointed Juliann Miller as Assistant Winter Track Coach. ·
Approved several substitute teachers and the resignation of an
Assistant Baseball Coach. ·
Approved the retirement/resignation for Stanley Jackson, Music
