Message from the Superintendent:
Just a reminder that the School Budget and Board of Education Election will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2003. Please look for the budget newsletter in your mail within the next few weeks. (Polling places and times are included.) If you have any questions about the 2003/2004 Glen Ridge Public School Budget, please feel free to contact me at Dfishbein@glenridge.org, or at 973-429-8302. You can also visit our district web-site www.glenridge.org to see the PowerPoint presentation.
Also, please remember to submit your individual school’s Teacher of the Year nomination to the Superintendent’s office by Friday, May 2, 2003.
SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT HIGHLIGHTS:
Building Projects
- The High School Construction Project is starting to make some good progress due to the pleasant spring weather. Although we lost some valuable time due to the extreme winter we experienced, additional time was built into the construction schedule and we are still targeted to open the new facility in September 2004.
Board of Education Documentation
The Board of Education approved:
- Regular meeting minutes for January 13th & 27th and February 10th & 24th
- Executive Session minutes for January 13th & 27th and February 10th & 24th
Administration
The Board of Education approved:
- The adoption of Policy #5512.01 - Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying
- The revised Regulation #2464 - Gifted and Talented Pupils
Business/Financial Reports
The Board of Education approved the following financial reports:
- Treasurer of School Money Reports - January 31, 2003 & February 28, 2003
- Secretary’s Report - January 31, 2003
- Bills List through February 28, 2003 & March 21, 2003
- Certification of Fund Balances - January 31, 2003 & February 28, 2003
- Budget Transfers for the months of January, 2003 & February, 2003
The Board of Education approved:
- The Proposed 2003/2004 School Year Budget:
General Fund $18,156,889
Special Revenue $ 185,957
Debt Service Fund $ 971,692
Total Budget $19,314,538
- The location of polling places for School Board and Budget Election
- Drawing of BOE candidates’ positions on the ballot
- Accepted, with thanks, a $400 donation from the Linden Avenue Home and School for the purchase of Library furniture
- The following tuition rates for the 2003/2004 school year:
K-6 = $6,800
7-8 = $9,200
9-12 = $9,300
- An amendment to the Long-Range Facility Plan to include, as a proposed project, the replacement of the lockers at Glen Ridge High School
- Support for special legislation for property tax reform
- Accepted, with thanks, a gift of 10 copies of "The True Book of Sports" from the Salvatelli family to be split between Linden and Forest Avenue Schools
PERSONNEL
The Board of Education approved the following:
- Resignation, with regret, of Kimberly Burk, Math teacher at Glen Ridge High School
- Appointment of David Rotondo, Night Custodian at Ridgewood Avenue School
- Various substitutes and a volunteer coach
