SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT HIGHLIGHTS:

 

BUSINESS

The Board of Education approved the following financial reports:

·         Bills list through October 31, 2005

·         Certified fund balances through August 31, 2005

·         Secretary’s Report through August 31, 2005

·         Treasurer of School Moneys Report - August 31, 2005

·         Budget transfer for the month of August 2005

 

The Board approved the following business items:

·         Purchase and installation of heating controls from Siemans Building Technologies Inc. for the Ridgewood Avenue School gymnasium.

·         Purchase natural gas supply services through the Alliance for Competitive Energy Services (ACES) Bid Cooperative Pricing System ID #E8801.

·         A joint transportation agreement with the Belleville Board of Education to transport our student to the Essex County Vo-Tech.

·         Pre-Kindergarten student tuition rate of $1,000 for the 2006-2007 school year.

PERSONNEL

The Board of Education approved:

·         Medical leave of absence for Elissa Alberto, District Speech Language Specialist, for the remainder of the school year.

·         Maternity leave of absence for Tia Gist, Physical Education Teacher/Athletic Trainer, effective February 6, 2006 - April 3, 2006.

·         Appointed Michele LaMotta as a leave replacement for Elissa Alberto.

·         Resignation of Marisa Thomas, Childcare Program Coordinator, effective December 15, 2005.

·         Various substitutes, co-curricular advisors, sixth period assignment, student worker, volunteers and new teacher mentor.

 

CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

The Board of Education approved the following:

·         A one-on-one aide for a special education student attending the Sawtelle Learning Center for the remainder for the 2005/2006 school year.

·         Home instruction services for a high school student to be provided by the Essex County Educational Services Commission.

·         Oral motor speech language and feeding service therapy for a special education student to be provided by Creative Speech Solutions from September 6, 2005 -November 30, 2005.

 

DONATIONS

The Board of Education accepted, with thanks, the following generous donations:

·         A sound proof door and flooring for the general music rooms at the Ridgewood Avenue School (valued at $8,800) from the Ridgewood Avenue Music Parents.

·         $1,000 for the purchase of resuscitation dummies for the GRHS Health Education Department from an anonymous ex-smoker.
