Message from the Superintendent:

I hope you all enjoyed the Thanksgiving Season! At this time of thanks, I would like to express our appreciation to all the generous groups and individuals who give time energy, gifts and monetary donations to the district. Without your support, we can’t provide the excellent education and opportunities to the children of Glen Ridge.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT HIGHLIGHTS:

Building Projects

The Board of Education approved:

  • Professional services from the Thermo Group, Inc. of roof testing for the Forest and Linden Avenue Schools’ roofing project.

Administration

The Board of Education approved:

  • The application for Dual Use of Educational Space at Ridgewood and Forest Avenue Schools.
  • The application for Toilet Facilities for Early Intervention, Pre-K and Kindergarten.

The Board of Education approved:

  • September 9 & 23, 2002 Regular Board Meeting Minutes
  • September 9 & 23, 2002 Executive Session Minutes

Business/Financial Reports

The Board of Education approved the following financial reports:

  • Treasurer of School Money Reports - September 2002
  • Secretary’s Report - September 30, 2002
  • Bills List through September 30, 2002 & November 22, 2002
  • Certification of Fund Balances - September 30, 2002
  • Budget Transfers for the month of September 2002

The Board of Education approved:

  • The educational and behavioral services for a special education student provided by the Sawtelle School.
  • The disposition of obsolete and damaged library books from Linden Avenue School.
  • Joint transportation agreements with the Bloomfield and Belleville Board of Education.
  • Roofco Inc. to make roof repairs at Glen Ridge High School, Forest Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue Schools.
  • Property valuation services at the high school provided by Appraisal Associates Inc.
  • The generous donation of dictionaries for the entire 3rd grade, from the Glen Ridge Rotary and accepted them with thanks.
  • The generous donation from the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation of various teacher mini-grants which were accepted with appreciation.
  • Home instruction for two students out-of-district.

 

PERSONNEL

The Board of Education approved:

  • The appointment of various substitutes, sixth period assignments, advisors and coaches.
  • The resignations of Kim Parra, Special Education teacher at Ridgewood Avenue School and Genine D’Andrea, Special Education teacher at Glen Ridge High School.

Curriculum:

The Board approved:

  • An overnight field trip for the High School Concert Band to Boston, MA March 28-30, 2003.
