The High School Robotics teams meet every Tuesday at 3:15 PM in room 202. All team members are asked to attend the Tuesday meetings. During the competition season, the members of the build and design team and the programming team meet two to three times a week in order to meet the competition deadlines.
Students on the GRHS Robotics team compete in the First Tech Challenge competition. The First Tech Challenge (FTC) competition is a program run by an organization named For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST). Teams design, build and program their robots to compete against other teams using a sports model. Students in the FTC competition1:
· Design, build, and program robots
· Apply real-world math and science concepts
· Develop problem-solving, organizational, and team-building skills
· Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments
· Earn a place in the World Championship
· Qualify for over $11 million in college scholarships
