Welcome to Linden Avenue School
“You will be loved first and taught second” is the motto that I brought to Linden Avenue School. My wife, Amy, and I have three children: Isabel – 13 years old, Lillian – 10 1/2 years old, and Quinton – 9 years old and they are the most precious and important in our lives. I know how important your children are to you and I will do what’s right for them to succeed in school. I always hold what’s best for the child in the forefront of my mind.
I began my career in the Paterson Public Schools as a classroom teacher in a K-8 building. There, I worked with students on all levels in a practical approach to teaching weather using satellite images and by taking daily weather readings. My primary position was a sixth grade teacher instructing all areas of the curriculum. After three years, I had the opportunity to work for the Mountain Lakes School district. I spent four years at Briarcliff Middle School teaching language arts, social studies, and English to both 6th and 7th graders. I strongly believed in creating interactive lessons including theories of Multiple Intelligences, Emotional Intelligence, Research and Brain-Based Learning, and Differentiated Instruction. A teacher can never have enough tools in his bag; the key is to know when to use them. If my students did not enjoy and respect the learning process and the lessons that I delivered, then I adjusted. I learned to love the students as if they were my own and hold that same notion today. For three years, I was the Assistant Principal at Mountain Lakes High School where I honed my skills in the areas of discipline, leadership, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously. I have had the opportunity to work for outstanding leaders and have modeled my leadership style after them.
In my experience, I have learned that children come first and make decisions based upon what is best for them. As a parent of three, I know the concerns you have for your children and will always listen and have an open mind. I felt blessed and honored to work in Mountain Lakes and even feel more excited and fortunate to serve the community of Glen Ridge.
