Our volunteer-led FAHSA committees raise funds for our school, plan activities to supplement our children's education, and help foster a sense of community. We welcome everyone’s time and talent and encourage you to join us – no commitment is too small!

Each FAS class gets its own visit during the school day, and the fair is open to parents and other friends of FAS on Back to School Night.The Box Tops committee raises money for FAS by coordinating and submitting collections twice a school year. Before throwing out any packaging, always make sure you check for clippable box tops! This is free money for FAS!Class ParentsClass parents help distribute communications from teachers, organize class parties, and recruit parent volunteers for field trips and other class events.Communications and PublicityThis committee prepares the Friday Flash newsletter and other email and Facebook Group announcements, and helps publicize all the great things happening at FAS in the local news.The Community Service committee plans student service projects like Neighbors in Need, our Thanksgiving Food Drive.Indoor RecessStuck inside for recess? No problem, thanks to Indoor Recess. This committee plans fun crafts and activities for recess during inclement weather.Discovery is an after-school enrichment program and major FAHSA fundraiser! It offers classes in subjects ranging from computer programing to cooking to performing arts.This committee plans in-school enrichment programs such as musical performances, recess yoga, and our annual STEAM fair.Family DirectoryExactly like it sounds! This committee produces a directory of FAS families' contact information.Prepare to be spooked! This annual outdoor evening event displays jack o'lanterns carved at home by each family, as well as by each class. Festive music fills the air, and a sweet treat fundraiser tops it off.Food Days are catered lunches provided by local restaurants on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and served by parent volunteers. This major fundraiser makes your life easier too!Hour of Code is a worldwide project and FAS is proud to be a part of it! Our students will participate in a one-hour introduction to computer science led by parent volunteers during the school day.Learning GardenOur Learning Garden maintains the beautiful fruit and vegetable garden on the FAS grounds and leads environmental science enrichment programs for the students.This community assists the FAS librarian with class visits. Volunteering here is a great way to get a peak into your child's school day!NominationsThis committee helps ensure the fairness of FAHSA Board elections.Pancake BreakfastThis fundraising committee hosts a Saturday morning pancake breakfast in the winter with teacher-led entertainment for the students. Come warm up inside at FAS!Say cheese! This committee organizes the annual FAS Picture Days in early October.Our Social Fireflies plan fun parent and family social events to help foster a sense of community and raise funds for FAS! There's something for everyone: from holiday centerpiece workshops to our Spring Gala!School SuppliesDon't want to drag your kids to Staples over Labor Day Weekend? No problem! Our School Supply fundraiser organizes bundles of school supplies, catered to each classroom. Log on in June and with one click, your children will have everything they need delivered to their desks by the first day of school. And, you'll be helping raise money for classroom instructional materials too!This committee raises funds throughout the year for the 2nd grade yearbooks and a fun graduation celebration.Soccerthon and Family Fun Night is a winter family social event and fundraiser open to students throughout Glen Ridge, from preK to 2nd Grade. It features student soccer scrimmages, concessions, and other fun activities and entertainment.
The Spiritwear committee selects and designs items including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, magnets and more, and sells them at a fall sale and various other times throughout the year at FAS events.Spring CarnivalSpring Carnival is a beloved annual fundraiser on the FAS field featuring fun games, treats, and a raffle.Dr. Suess DayCelebrate reading with a fun week of in-school activities, capped with a visit from the Cat in the Hat!Help us show our teachers how much we appreciate them during Teacher Appreciation Week! We'll plan events and treats to thank them for all their hard work.Visiting Author DayEach year, we work closely with the FAS Librarian to identify a notable children’s book author to visit FAS for a day! The visiting authors make a series of age-appropriate presentations to each grade level. They also sign and personalize copies of their books for the children. Books are sold in advance to help cover costs of visiting author fees.Love the FAS teachers and staff? So do we! We'll organize and deliver baskets full of sweet treats and gift cards to show them just how much.Get ready for the holidays with a gift wrap, sweet treats and housewares fundraiser that starts in September.
